Ästhetik des Atmens

Abstract

While in the Western culture many contemporary philosophers focused their attention on perception, the experience of breathing has been developed in various traditions of Asia. The importance of these cultures of breathing has not been sufficiently studied, even if many practices such as judo, taijiquan, or yoga are quite popular. In this essay some aspects of traditional and contemporary arts are analyzed in order to shape an aesthetics of breathing in China and Japan.
