Abstract
The idea of resonance is analyzed through its mode of operation: the necessary agreement between resonant and resonator and the consonance that derives from it. The concept of exceptionality of the consonance, due to Hermann von Helmholtz, is examined, and it is brought back to the tradition of ancient philos ophy, to Plato, who indicates in the One the destiny over the dissonance, in opposition to Heraclitus, who affirms the harmony of opposites.
